Tashkent State University of Economics

In the beginning of the 20th century, in the territory of Central Asia – in Uzbekistan, three commercial educational institutions prepared specialists for commercial and industrial firms and banks. Officially, the highly qualified economists training  began on May 12, 1918, from the time of the establishment of  Turkestan State University. At the same time, the Faculty of Public Sociology and Economics began to prepare economists with higher education for Central Asia.

February 15, 1931 in Tashkent, the Planning Institute for the Training of Economists was created. After a while this Institute was renamed the Institute of National Economy, then the Commercial Cooperative Institute.

Taking into consideration growing demand for economists, on August 13, 1931, the Central Asian Institute for Financial Economics was established on the basis of the Faculties of Economics and Social Sciences of Turkestan State University. As the result of which the Tashkent Financial and Economic Institute was created, which trained the employees of the financial and credit system for the Central Asian republics. There was the task of training highly qualified specialists in the financial and credit and accounting system for Central Asia. It was the first period of preparation of economists in Uzbekistan. On September 1, in 1931, the first bell rang at the institute, and the classes began in the old university building. At that time, the entrance to the institute was from  Arpa-poya street. A.S. Holikov (then director) was appointed to the post of rector (1931-1934).

The Central Asian Financial and Economic Institute was the basis, the foundation and the first perspective of the current TSUE. In reaching the stage of its formation and development, it has passed the path full of anxiety, controversy, complexity and glory.
